Max Holleran

Max Holleran is Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Melbourne. He researches urban growth and mass tourism and has written about the history of beachfront development in Europe and the politics of architectural aesthetics. His dissertation is a comparative study of European Union expansion and urbanization in post-Franco Spain and post-socialist Bulgaria that examines Europe’s shifting center-periphery relationship. His essays have appeared in Dissent, The New Republic, Boston Review, Slate, and Public Books.
