Marisa Rando

Visiting Scholar

Marisa Rando is a researcher, tech worker, and community organizer. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of Cambridge, where her research examines and compares the subjectivities of tech workers and finance professionals in the US. Her study explores how these industries influence workers’ identity, intimate relationships, gender presentation, and conceptualizations of the future. She holds a Master’s degree in Labour Policy and has spent more than a decade working in marketing and other roles across the technology industry.
Marisa also works in the decentralized technology space at Blacksky, an open-source social network built on the AT Protocol. Her work is informed by a background in community organizing and movement-building. She is also President of Pact Collective, a nonprofit fiscal host supporting roughly 25 grassroots organizations in New York City.
